Dear Parent/Guardian,

The Wisconsin Lion's Camp is a non-profit, American Camp Association accredited camp dedicated to providing quality camping experiences for the youth and adults we serve. The youth with diabetes sessions are provided in partnership with the American Diabetes Association Wisconsin. During the summer camp program, we serve youth ages 9 -16.

The goals for campers are:
  1. Campers will feel good about themselves as their abilities are highlighted and interests broadened. Objective: To schedule a well-balance week of program activities.
  2. Each camper will begin to appreciate a simpler lifestyle in harmony with nature. Objective: To provide activities to increase interaction with the environment.
  3. Each camper will increase the responsibility of taking control of their diabetes. Objective: To provide opportunities for campers to learn and practice diabetes management skills.
  4. Each camper will develop decision-making and group interaction skills. Objective: To give campers an opportunity to make decisions, which affect themselves and respect others.

Youth with diabetes must obtain an application from the American Diabetes Association Wisconsin office at 1-888-342-2383.

The registration generally starts at the end of January, so do not delay in contacting the American Diabetes Association.

Sincerely,
Andrea Yenter, Camp Director
